ROOSEVELT DEMANDS ACTION ON BUDGET: "THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO IS NOTHING"

As Congress remains deadlocked on the federal budget with a shutdown deadline looming, 2028 Presidential Candidate Theodore Roosevelt today called on lawmakers to put country over party and reach an agreement that protects American workers and families.

"This budgetary impasse is a disgrace," Roosevelt declared. "While politicians bicker over partisan priorities, hardworking Americans face the prospect of missed paychecks and disrupted services. Congress must act—and act now."

Roosevelt outlined three immediate priorities for any budget agreement:

1. Protect Federal Workers. "The men and women who serve our nation should not be held hostage to political gamesmanship. Any deal must include back pay guarantees and protections for essential personnel."

2. Maintain Essential Services. "Our veterans, seniors, and most vulnerable citizens depend on government programs. We cannot balance budgets on their backs."

3. Invest in America's Future. "A responsible budget invests in infrastructure, education, and healthcare—not just cuts. That's what the Square Deal demands."

The candidate criticized both parties for prioritizing political posturing over problem-solving.

"I've seen this before—men of small vision putting party loyalty above national interest," Roosevelt said. "In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing. Congress is choosing to do nothing, and the American people will pay the price."

Roosevelt pledged that as president, he would work across party lines to pass budgets on time and end the cycle of crisis governance.

"The Square Deal means a fair shake for every American," Roosevelt concluded. "That starts with a government that works—not one that shuts down every time politicians can't agree."
