FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Badlands, ND — February 21, 2026 — In light of the recent announcement made by the Department of Justice regarding the dismissal of the U.S. Attorney who replaced Halligan, our campaign wishes to express deep concern over the implications this decision will have on the independence of the DOJ. We believe in the importance of an independent Justice Department that is free from political interference, and we are seriously troubled by actions that could potentially undermine this principle.
“We are facing a critical moment in our democracy,” said Theodore Roosevelt. “The independence of our judicial system is a cornerstone of our democratic values. Any action that threatens this independence should be viewed with the utmost concern. We need to ensure the DOJ remains a beacon of justice, not a tool for political maneuvering.”
Our campaign wants to stress the negative implications of this firing on the independence of the DOJ. We believe that justice should be dispensed without fear or favor, and that the individuals who carry out this important duty should be immune from political pressures.
“Transparency and accountability should be the guiding principles in the appointment and dismissal of U.S. attorneys,” said Theodore Roosevelt. “We must ensure that these processes are carried out in a manner that leaves no room for doubt or suspicion.”
In response to this incident, we propose a comprehensive review of the procedures and protocols surrounding the appointment and dismissal of U.S. attorneys. This will help ensure that these processes are not only fair and transparent, but also resistant to political interference.
Furthermore, our campaign proposes the implementation of stronger checks and balances within the DOJ. This includes the establishment of an independent oversight body with the power to investigate and report any potential breaches of independence within the DOJ. These measures are in line with our commitment to uphold the principles of democracy, justice, and the rule of law.
“An independent judiciary is not just a nice-to-have feature of our democracy; it is an essential pillar,” said Theodore Roosevelt. “Any form of political interference in our justice system is unacceptable and undermines the integrity of our institutions.”
While we are deeply concerned about the recent developments, we remain committed to advocating for a stronger and more independent DOJ. We believe that this is a cause that should unite all Americans, regardless of political affiliation.
In closing, we urge the DOJ to uphold the highest standards of independence and integrity. We also call on policymakers, influencers, and the media to join us in advocating for transparency, accountability, and the rule of law.
